A Chicago native who received his culinary degree at Kendall College, Executive Chef of Barrio, Andrew Sikkelerus, is a two-decade veteran in the kitchen. More than 20-years of experience, Chef Sikkelerus held various positions prior to Barrio such as the Assistant Corporate Chef for Rosebud Restaurants and the Executive Sous Chef on the team that opened Park Grille. Just a little over a year ago, he joined the Barrio team where he manages a kitchen crew of about 50 and ensures Top Chef alum, Katsuji Tanabe's dishes are made to perfection when the celebrity chef is not around. An average day for Chef Sikkelerus includes overseeing food preparation, ensuring only the highest quality dishes are served to guests and managing the restaurant's overall culinary side of things. In addition to his daily responsibilities, Chef Sikkelerus loves working with local farmers to acquire fresh, sustainable, and in-season ingredients.
